In The Book Thief, a young girl named Liesel begins a love affair with books during World War II in Germany. While locals are forced to throw their books into the fire, Liesel steals books from a wealthy home and shares the gift of words with others. During a difficult time, the stories provide a source of hope and inspiration.

Words can be powerful beyond belief. But their full potency is felt only if they are used correctly.

The question is:

How do you turn words that are “blah”, into exceptional ones?

By writing and learning how to write.

The Birth of an Idea

In December of last year, I had an idea. I decided to start a site and run a newsletter that would help people to get the most out of life through their work. I wanted to help people bring positive changes to their lives by setting and achieving their goals in their work and businesses.

Less winning the competition for the World’s Saddest Cubicle. More winning the game of life when it comes to leaving a positive impact through your work.

It can be all too easy to accept our situation in life, even if we’re unhappy with it. In the beginning, it’s easy to have lofty goals. But over time, the constant obstacles and struggles wear away at us. Peer pressure, societal expectations, and our own self-doubts erode away our need to find purpose.

Eventually, it gets to the point where people find themselves working, day in and day out, on autopilot. Without knowing how to take steps to get the most out of life.

Imagine what your younger self would have to say about that.

I want to put a stop to this.

I know that if I want anyone to listen to what I have to say, engaging people with my writing is a top priority.

Writing to Change Lives

Writing compelling posts for audiences will allow me to reach and persuade a wider number of people. It’ll provide me with the chance to help people take control of their lives and business, to refuse to remain stagnant, and to take steps to getting more out of their personal and professional lives.

Right now, the engine is moving slowly and the wheels are starting to turn. Places are beginning to feature what I have to say. People are reading my content and signing up to hear more. I’m starting to see a bit of headway, some glimmer in the darkness.

But I’d like to give things an extra push, an increased momentum. More people need to hear my message. Eventually, I want things to take off and soar.

I practice the craft of writing on a daily basis. Every morning, I wake up full of ideas about what to write next. At night, I think about what kind of issues readers are having and how we can break through them together.

Writing is a skill that one commits to for the long-haul. Becoming a master of words means showing up every day. It means continually striving to become better, even if there are temporary setbacks. Even if I were to master writing years from now, I will always still be a student. After all, there’s no limit to how high I can reach.

The power of words can enable people to trust what I have to say. Enough that they read my content, anticipate my next newsletter, and if they’re ready, to sign on to work with me. My goal is to have eager readers turn into loyal students that stick with me for the long haul, because they know that I can help them get where they want in their work.

While I do this for profit, I also want to understand what my readers need help with and to write a way that speaks to them. I know I can help them, if I can find the right words to use in order to reach out and impact their lives.

It takes a certain amount of trust for people who read my content to decide to sign up and let me into their inbox, and I recognize this as a precious opportunity to continue the relationship by delivering value. Writing posts that are informative, emotional, and inspiring means readers will continue to listen to what I have to say.

And if they like what I have to offer, then they’re more likely to join a course or share my content with others. My site will continue to grow and hopefully skyrocket, impacting more people. All because my writing gets readers to return, time and time again.

Our Journey Together

So let’s get people out of that cubicle and into the open world, where they can explore and learn. Where they can set themselves on a path towards finding their passion and making the most of it.

I’m on a continual process to getting better at communicating this message. Sending out compelling posts to both new and current audiences so that I can reach more people will shake up things and take this site to the next level.

And just how powerful can my words be? We’ll find out.
